F.A.Q

Approx. 16,000 teens
You must be 15 years of age to enter a driver Education Program in the State of Maine.
The Course runs tentative 4 to 5 weeks. Classes are, as a rule, Mon. & Tues. 3:00 to 6:00 PM. Summer Classes run Mon. Tues and Wed, 8:30 to 11:30 AM.
If you are 15 years, you must hold your Permit until you turn 16 yrs. old. Plus log in 60 hr. of daylight driving and 10 hr. of night time driving with an operator that is at least 20 yrs. old and holds a consecutive 2 year license. You must also hold your permit for a total of 6 months.
Ages between 16 and 21, you must hold your Permit for 6 months and log in your 70 hours of driving time with at least a 20 year old operator. Reminder: Your parent needs to be the one to sign the bottom of the Log Sheet before you send it in for the Road Test.
Simple, just call BMV (207)624-9000 Ext. 52114 to receive a duplicate at an additional fee.
Again,,,, simply call BMV and they can issue a duplicate for you at a Charge.
You can go to this BMV Link to download more Log Sheets, http://www.maine.gov/sos/bmv/forms/drivinglog.pdf
Yes, this restriction is in effect for 270 days when you receive your new (provisional) license. Drivers under 18 years of age who has been issued a driver's license may not carry passengers other than immediate family members unless accompanied by a licensed operator who has held a 2 year consecutive license, is at least 20 years of age, is occupying a seat beside the new driver and is licensed to operate the class vehicle operated by the new driver. Immediate family member means grandparents, parent, stepparent, spouse, child, brother or sister.
When you pass your road test and issued your license from BMV. That license is called a provisional license. Meaning you can lose the new license within the next 2 years or when you turn 21 of age, whichever comes last. If you are convicted of any moving violation. The first moving violation offense is an administrative suspension of 30 days, (depending on the severity of the violation.)
No you cannot. The mature operator sitting next to you, if suspected of intoxication and found quilty in court will received an operating under the influence (OUI) conviction. And,,,,, your permit will be suspended for driving without a mature supervising adult of 20 years of age.
2 years. If it expires you will need to sit for another Exam at any BMV Branch.
13. No you do not as long as you have the original Log Sheet and it has all the required hours on it. However, You do need to go to the nearest BMV Branch and take the State of Maine Permit Examination again to renew your Permit.
